Radial inner tubes

Postby Bob McCarty » Tue Mar 26, 2013 7:57 pm

I just had the rear tires taken off as the CaCl was leaking and I want to repaint the rims. When I asked the clerk about new tubes he quoted me a price of $29.00 for radial inner tubes which he said were a little thicker. Any pros or cons to those? I didn't even know they existed.

Thanks, Bob

The only thing wrong with radial tubes is they don't make good sling shots.

Must confess that I did not know that radial tractor tires used different tubes from the bias ply tires. Never owned a radial tractor tire. But for tires on the highway, tubes in radials MUST be for that purpose. As far as I know, radial tubes work well in either type of tire.
Be careful about laughing at old people-- you might be one someday. I recall years ago one aged local who was bit hard of hearing and he was telling about the new "steel velvet radio tires" he had just bought. Now my hearing is about like that.

I read somewhere that radial tubes shouldn't be put in bias ply tires. Since I am not sure I googled it: radial tubes in bias ply tractor tires. The first hit was from ytmag and it said you can put radial in bias but not bias in radial. Makes sense.

Are Radial Tractor Tires Cost Effective?
