What Year

Hey guys, I just am looking for some input. I always was told that the cub was a 48, but there is no serial number plate. I think it was removed in the late 70's when my father redid it. I did check the cast number on the block and it is 6-26-Q. So that is June 26th 47 right?

Yup, that would mean that is was cast on 26 June 1947. Probably wound up in an early '48 or a very late '47. Check the rest of the casting codes. The later the date codes would probably indicate closer to a '48 than a '47.

The engine SN would also help in narrowing down the year and month built.

Then once you have it nailed down to the most likely date you can then get a SN Plate and fill it out with "1948 Cub" instead of the SN or whatever else does it for you.
