What not to do when it won't start

Postby Jason (IL) » Sun Mar 10, 2013 5:20 pm

Was at an auction yesterday where I saw a Farmall C and F 20 sell. The C brought $1000 and so I went up to tell the guy he got a deal on a good runner. I preceeded to tell him that I collect the little Farmall Cubs and started telling him how many I had and how I enjoy working with them so much. Well this conversation quickly took a turn by him telling me has a cub, it quit running, he wasn't able to get it started and so he took his D-9 dozer and pushed it to the back lot and in the process snapped the front axel off of it some how. Well it has been sitting there for awhile now I guess and so I will be going to hopefully retrieve what is left here over my spring break in a few weeks. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said not much if you have a use for it, so I guess I better get there.

Funny how things turn?

With a foot of snow this week I was not able to get into the guys place. I am going to try again on Monday. If not then it will be summer before I can get there. I guess he has several old tractors sitting around, most have been scabbed for parts though :(. I will let you all know what I find.

Wow, wonder if that D9 was big enough to push the mighty little Cub?

Hope this turns out to be something worth rebuilding! Please post some photos Jason!!

I got in to took at this cub today, it is SN 155???, I only rember the first 3 #'s which makes it a 1952. Anyway I wish I had my camera. The tractor is complete except for the Radiator, sheet metal, and head. When I got there to look at it I was supprised because I didn't see a Cub because it was flipped up side down. That is right, flipped over. The front radiator casting was broken or snapped below the crank pulley. I made him a fair offer and then he tells me he has to check with his friend because it is not his, he would just like to get rid of it. Well I pulled a trailor 60 miles for nothing and now I will have to pull it back there when and if he calls back. I will give him a call next week because I think I could bring it back.
