Making rows
A few weeks ago there was a post that included a link to pictures of a row marker someone made using a length of pipe on the UMF to layout rows. I've been looking for that post but can't seem to find it. I just wanted to refresh my memory while I'm scrounging parts. Can anyone help me? John

Re: Making rows
Thanks Mike, but the drive sight mounts on the right headlight to use to follow the mark the planter marker made. The row marker I'm thinking of was a pipe with spring teeth to layout multiple rows so you could hand plant. John

Re: Making rows
I have never seen a row marker, except on a two row horse drawn planter. Why would you need one for a one or two row tractor. Every one would just follow the furrow made by the track plow or the tire print of the rear wheel.

Re: Making rows
Depending on the row spacing and the tire setting, you can follow the tire track, but with a multiple row planter (2,4, 6,etc.) its a lot easier to follow a mark thats directly in front of you to keep the rows uniform. I'm guessing the row sight was used more for the 2 & 4 row veggie planters and when using a 2 row pull type planter than with the one row units we usually see on Cubs. John

Re: Making rows
Should be a post, somewhere, of one I made. I didn't post it, I don't do pictures. A length of 2 inch pipe, with angle welded on top, with mounting bolts for the UMF. Angle welded 3 places, with cultivator spring teeth for row marking. PM me your email address, and I can send you some pictures. Ed

Re: Making rows
No Kevin, its not big enough (42 x 78). But I realized last year that with one bum shoulder, its quicker, easier and more fun to cultivate with the Cub than the Troybilt. I agree on the weather, it dried up last week, then we got about 2" of rain, started drying yesterday, sprinkling today with rain forecast all week. My BIL told me yesterday he rented another 120 Acres, so I know what I'll be doing when it dries up!! Good to hear from you. John

John, the spacing for the rows is adjustable, 36, 38, 40, and 42 inches, with my set up. I keep it on 38 inches, the width I used, before making the marker. Ed
