rear rim paint
Hi all,
I know this has been talked about before. I'm having trouble finding a silver paint that isn't metallic. Are you using metallic paint for the rims? Napa can't come up with a suitable color. The IHC silver number B17563 doesn't compute. A light gray at Sherman Williams may work, or use rattle can HP wheel coating. Any detailed suggestions?

Aluminum paint is what most people use. Rustoleum has a "hammered finish" aluminum, that looks almost like galvanized. Ed

PAsam,
...kinda like which oil to use.
I had the rims for my 1957 powder coated in a silver metallic in 2006.
When I pulled the original tires off the rims the original gray painted finish was in pretty good shape, other than where the calcium chloride got to it. My rims were manufactured by Firestone (stamped in the rim on the backside).

Re: rear rim paint
You can always use a grey primer, then the NAPA silver does not seem so shiny.

Re: rear rim paint
I used the Rustoleum "hammered finish" aluminum and am quite satisfied with it. I didn't even use primer under it. Looks good too.

Re: rear rim paint
I just got back from Tractor Supply....I have to change tires on the 53 and decided to paint the rims....I ended up with MF Majic Gray...Figured I could use it on my Ferguson if it didn't work...Turned on the computer and zing, there was the rear wheel topic...Guess I'll get the correct color tomorrow and save the grey for John Henry...(the Harry Ferguson)....Lol... Dave....

Ricky...Whats the deal with the second picture? Is it altered in some way? The tractor and girls look different than the background.

No alteration. I snapped the picture as the girls were driving by, coming back from picking berries.
The next question will be, "what is the girl in the rear standing on"?

WOW! Amazing how the tractor is in perfect focus and the background is blurred, mine always turn out the other way!

Re: rear rim paint
I've used Rustoleum Aluminum paint, but it's odd paint. The paint itself is like water, and it really never dries so you have to clear coat over it. Now I'm using Rustoleum Hammered Silver, and I really like how it looks. Lik you said, not really metallic, and not super shiny, but it gives a really strong finish.
