Want to plow but too wet

Postby gpcubboy » Wed Apr 17, 2013 4:04 pm

Now i got my cub started I want plow my garden didnt get to it in the fall. Cant believe I am saying this after last summers drought wish the rain would let up long enough we could get in the fields. Then it can send several long slow rains our way when needed after planting. Anyone else having same problem?

Same thoughts here. I did run over my garden with the Cub-3 this afternoon to incorporate manure and rip it open, but with the up and down temps, its probably just as well its too wet to do much else. Tried to post a pic of the Cub-3, but I need to find out how to make the file smaller. John

Weather had been working out...the new Cub wasn't. I plowed a couple weeks back
with a bad throwout bearing and clutch fingers set at about an inch. Missed two nice days over the weekend to finish plowing my upper garden and harrowing the community garden at UMass, but Sunday did split the Cub and put a new TO bearing in and got it running in hours. This coming weekend with the Cub ready to rock and roll some dirt it will rain I am certain!  Hope it drys out and you get to plow and that there is no drought this summer.

Here, here to no drought, boy it was bad here too. We can never plow this early in our heavy clay soil of course the rocks hook out easier.

I know what you mean. We have a plow day scheduled for this Saturday but it's been raining and they are calling for rain through Friday morning. Looking out the back window, all I see is rain.

Problem is they won't schedule a rain date so knowing that, everyone will show up and hope they can plow. The last couple of years instead of plowing, I've been pulling a hay wagon doing hay rides following closely beside the tractors as they plow. Everyone seems to really like the up close look at the dirt turning over.

Here is a picture from the Buchanan School Plow Day either last year or maybe the year before. I like this picture.

If we attend, I'll shoot some pictures to share.

I just ordered seed from Henry Field this week; a month later than usual. No rush though, like you, too much rain. Several inches last night/today. Ugh. Maybe we'll get 'em planted before too much longer... :?
