Yes, right hand side of dash, hangs beside clutch pedal and protects the battery cable from wear

Re: Where Does This Part Go?
Here are pictures of an original on TM. These look like the early style, which would be correct for your '48.

Re: Where Does This Part Go?
Thanks Barnyard - the darn thing has been gone so long from our Cub I could not recall. I actually didn't notice in the parts manual either. I'm quite certain someone here will tell me what page it's on.
Last question - it appears that the bracket supplied by Steiner gets twisted a bit when installed so it screws in to the dash. Is that screwed in the the vertical screw or the small one in the picture just above the bracket?
As always thanks, Ken

This bracket goes at the top of the dash and hood connection to hold the wiring and battery cable going forward The other bracket goes at the lower right dash to hold and protect the battery cable and wiring going to battery and rear light.

Ken,
Here is a link for the clip that you need.
http://www.defarmallcubs.com/ELECTRICAL.html Item EL-323
It takes the early clip for 6 volt cable.

Re: Where Does This Part Go?
Ken - you only need one, unlss you have two Cubs you're working on. In my parts catalog, in the electrical section for early Cubs (which is on page 25) it is Ref No 12, Part No 363 504 R1. This clip is a long one to shield the battery and rear light cable from chafing by the clutch pedal or the operators big "ol field boot" soles. There are other clips under the platform and along the underside of the hood, but they are all smaller - perhaps 3/4 inch in width. The one we're talking about is at least 2 inches long. My cub is down the street, otherwise I would try to attach a picture. Al D

Thanks CubStar - I was looking the pix set by Barnyard - it shows one by the clutch - the other is up, just under the gas tank.

Re: Where Does This Part Go?
I think the upper one on Barnyard's tractor wandered in from another tractor. By the way, there was a later version of the clip, evidently that came along the same time they added a ground wire for the lights. The rear light wire that went through this clip got upgraded to a 2-wire cable and the clip was enlarged. Most of the pictures in this thread seem to be the early style, which is correct for a '48.

Re: Where Does This Part Go?
Hi,
I remember in the mid 1970's I bought one of the clips that goes by the clutch pedal new at a IH dealer, I remember the price, it was $1 then. It has a soft coating to hold the cables. I still have it on my tractor. I wish things still cost what they did then. Good luck with your Cub, Glen.
