Hour Meter Wiring

Postby imaz22 » Wed May 08, 2013 4:56 pm

I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping that someone can help me figure out how to wire my 56 Farmall Cub's hour meter. It was removed 20 or so years ago, and I can not figure out how to re-install it. It's the analog type that I believe was sold as an aftermarket dealer option. I've cleaned it up and installed new wires (they had frayed and were shorting it out). I've also pulled the panel on the tractor with all of the controls on it for easy access (the meter was originally mounted to this panel). I just can't see any evidence of where the two wires were once connected. Any help and advise would be appreciated.

Jeff (jlmason81) has several and may be able to help you with the wiring. Hopefully he will see this post, or you could send him a PM to get his attention. Welcome to the Forum.

Assuming your 56 has a distributor rather than a magneto you can just wire the hour meter to the distributor side of the ignition switch if you do not have the sender unit for the oil pressure line. The only difference would be that the meter would run anytime the switch was on as opposed to anytime it had oil pressure from running.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Thanks. I did wire it to the ignition switch and it's on and working great.
