hood off

I've got the hood off to clean up the generator contacts and trouble shoot if necessary. Please add to the list to do while the hood is off.

One Thing important! be careful an take your time putting the hood back on! i was in a hurry an bent the outta my fuel line plus its hard to tighten the top fitting in that tight space under the tank! So mine is leaking!

Oil the fan while it's off too. Much easier

Aside from the genny what other reasons did you take the hood off for While it is off, you can clean the fuel sediment bowl, lube the TC rockshaft, check the wiring for breaks, fraying, check connections to make sure they are clean and bright, oil the fan, the magneto (has oiler holes) .. so does the generator. Lots of little things to do - check out the lube guide:

In my experience the 'mushroom theory' pops up when the the hood comes off . But when I changed the fan belt on the loader Cub all I needed to do was cut the belt on the generator (has bad bearings).... and I really didn't look too close at anything else.

If you have the original style fittings; 1/2" stubby wrench, hydraulics retracted, work from the left side of the tractor. If it doesn't start and go most of the way with your fingers then it isn't aligned correctly and you need to adjust that before putting the wrench to it. The wrench should only be needed to snug it up or get it loosened a little bit. If it's tight (all the way) it ain't right!
