Here is a very good video on diagnosing igniton problems. OK, in a Cub we have to figure out it has a miss without a computer telling us. But the majority of this video applies, the same as any engine with a distributor ignition. Since the system shown is a pointless system, there are a few more parts on a Cub that need to be checked.

Excellent video. I have never thought of using the timing light to diagnose a miss.
