Re: Woods 42F (Fasthitch version) shaft
Dale, just seeing this post, I loaded the trailer yesterday and loaded the whole mower up, actually still hooked to the tractor It's all coming. Im not sure of the splines shaft you have hooked on the mower end. Mine slides on a round shaft at the mower end and takes a square key to lock the two together. See you at the Waller

I don't believe the RM-42 and 42F shafts are the same, they are 'rigged' differently. I ain't dragging my 42F shaft down there, but may be able to get some decent pictures for you....

Dale, I have a 42F and perhaps I can bring the shaft to RPRU for inspection.

...and you would feel safe bringing it within my grasp??!!! That would be very generous of you!
I am SURE somewhere in this great wide country lurks a drive shaft hanging in someone's barn. Everybody keep your eyes open!! I do plan to stop in Roxboro sometime, so a few photos to show the folks there what I need would be really helpful. Maybe with a tape measure along side, and a view into the splined ends. Thanks for any help. See you guys soon!

Re: Woods 42F (Fasthitch version) shaft
Do you have any part of it or do you need the whole thing?? The picture I have of Cecil s is a splined shaft, but pretty sure mine is square (actually nearly square, keeps you from getting it out of phase).

Re: Woods 42F (Fasthitch version) shaft
All I have is the long male 10-spline section attached to the mower. So what I need is the short female, 10-spline PTO piece attached via a universal to another longer female 10-spline shaft, which would slip onto my mower's shaft.
I have #10 assembly: Rear Universal Drive and need #2: Front Universal Drive on page 8:

Re: Woods 42F (Fasthitch version) shaft
The shaft is splined? Could be harder to find that way.... surely the old part is around SOMEWHERE and very much lost, piece of 'junk' leaning against a barn wall somewhere.
A good drive shaft place would be wise about it.... when I got the U-joint for my Mott the guy was very knowledgeable about what I had in my hand, spun around and grabbed the right part even before I got to counter. He said a Cub 10 spline yoke was available.

Re: Woods 42F (Fasthitch version) shaft
I baught my cub lowboy with a danco c2 rear mount for fast hitch. The shaft was bent were the slip sleave (approx 4.5 " long) and the drive shaft tube ( approx 13" long) meet.
this link shows similar slip sleave but not 10 spline and does not have felt seal.
http://www.paulbparts.com/drivelines/we ... o-slip-s-0
The original shaft tube was flaired a little to allow slip sleave to go inside shaft tube and was welded. That section was destroyed so I turned the slip sleave down, heated the shaft tube and pressed it in. I had to order new pto output shaft for tractor because it was bad. When It arrives I will check runout but appears to be very good. After checking runout I will weld it up.
If you make one up make sure yokes are aligned or you will und up with a pretzel.
hope that helps a little

If you want to zoom in hold ctrl and push + as many times as needed, best to count as you will want to hold ctrl and push - when done
