a caveat...for your rear lamp you have 4 places
where your ground continuity could be broken:
bucket>clamp>support arm>batt box>frame.

rather than scraping off my beautiful powdercoat
or relying on star washers, I ran a wire from the
light bucket mounting bolt to the bolt that
holds down the toolbox. Used the same trick
for my headlights and have nada ground problems.

I had read somewhere, to not paint the one side of the battery box bracket, the light bracket on one side where it meets the bracket, (coated thinly with deelctric grease) and the light clamp and pin have metal to metal contact...I've checked continuity from the ground inside the lamp house to the grounding location inside the battery box so I'm good so far.

Boss do you mean the main bolt, the small bolts that hold the fan together or both? I'd like to learn from you, what issues the paint like this has caused you in the past.

The main bolt, you will see the problem if you need to take it off or adjust the fan belt

If/when you get paint on a fastener or a part that really shouldn't be, simply take a tap/die and chase the threads. That should clean it up nicely.

Thanks Boss, I have been running a tap in every hole and a die on every part as part of the cleaning and disassembly process. I will add this process one more time on assembly. Thanks for the heads up. That nut is hard enough to work on sometimes as it is.

That nut is hard enough to work on sometimes as it is.

Keep in mind, you do not turn the nut during disassembly/assembly. You turn the shaft to tighten/loosen it.

Better git'er done! You'll have stuff dragging on the ground. ...or worse yet, you won't be able to get it up

I gew up on my dads ranch and didnt know that everyone didnt weld until I got older. When you live in the country, its a mandatory skill. I got lucky and had lots of scrap steel to work on and an almost endless supply of rods. Now I cry everytime I have to buy my own rods.

Made some things when I had access to a wire welder. Never learned to stick weld, and don't consider myself proficient in wire welding. Need to do like Rudi, and go to school.
