Took my '48 to the MidMo CubFest last month and was surprised (and somewhat embarrassed) by a steady radiator leak after it was parked. It had never leaked up to that point before, so I was frustrated. Not wanting to pull the radiator for repair or buy a replacement (yet), I remembered Eugene's advice on Mendtite (link and other comments here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=77024&p=617897&hilit=+radiator#p617897).
I stopped in O'Reilly automotive, but they did not carry it locally. They did suggest Bar's Leaks product, so purchased the HD Stop Leak. Followed the directions and used about 1/2 bottle and ran the tractor for 30-40 minutes. Also had a leak on my '47, so used the other 1/2 bottle for it. That was the week of May 19th. So far, no evidence of any leaks.
Don't know how long the Bar's Leaks HD Stop Leak will hold, but so far so good. Just thought you all would like to know in case you have a radiator leak. Granted, I realize this is a temporary solution.

Re: Stopping a Radiator Leak
my suggestion is the spend the money and replace the radiator.... then its fixed permantly no risk with putting goop in the engine that doesnt belong there no risk of overheating the engine

Re: Stopping a Radiator Leak
The Mendtite product held/lasted for about a year in a 154 Cub Low-Boy before the radiator started seeping again.Stanton wrote: I remembered Eugene's advice on Mendtite (link and other comments here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=77024&p=617897&hilit=+radiator#p617897).
Purchased the tractor thinking it was a parts tractor. Really didn't want to spend money on a radiator if I was going to part out the tractor. The year gave me time to evaluate the tractor and to try and locate a new radiator, none available. Finally found a shop to recore the radiator.
I have an excuse. CRS.

and I still use it. Or, I used it seven years ago.
Problem solved then, and it's still holding.

HamiltonBob, a site sponsor, has radiators, for the 154. Saw them, at Red Power. Ed

Re: Stopping a Radiator Leak
I wouldn't let a little simple problem like a radiator leak keep you from showing off "Poison Ivy". Very nice looking tractor and with the post hole digger, neat.
Thanks for the update on the leak. Oh, if you ever want to bring it to Arkansas, it can leak on my yard anytime!
