Farmall A c-3 mower blades need help

Postby cjpenny89 » Tue Jul 09, 2013 5:16 am

Can anyone tell me what the correct part number is or where to buy the correct left hand mower blades for the International C-3 mower deck on a farmall A? All I can find on line are the ones for the Cub c-3 mower which are right hand blades. Can anyone help me find a correct set of blades? I am also looking for the correct belt it is like 1-1/8" wide maybe an 1" wide. thanks for the help.

I highly recommend Carter and Gruenwald. Their parts guys are awesome!

You've got me on that one. Rotary Cutters RC-1 in pdf manuals has the parts breakdown for mounting a C-3 on a 140 but I never saw anything regarding an A. You may want to take a look at that manual to see how your set up compares. The deck is the same but brackets and belts (length) are different on the 140. Could you have a C-4 for a 140? The belt looks to be a wide flat belt and the deck has an idler pulley. That is in the same book.

I will look into the C4 the mower fits a farmall A -140 but the mounting for the mule drive is cut out for the fast hitch so I am guessing it might be the c4. Thanks for the help I will let you know what I find.

where did you find the parts manual for the C4 mower? I didn't find it on the Carter and gruenwald online parts.

diffentaly not a c4 mower the c4 uses one belt. This one is a c-3 but the main drive belt from the tractor to the center spindle is 1" then from the center to the out side uses two belts like 5/8. I am having my dad pull the blades I think they might be the same LH blades as the C-4 I can get a set for $90 so we might try those and see if they match up.
Its kind of frustrating that the manual shows mounting for the C3 on the Farmall 140's but doesn't give the blade info.

You sure the blades rotate in opposite directions on the C-3 whether it's mounted on Cub or 140?

Because the mower has separate belts it should be pretty easy to get the same rotation whether you're driving off the PTO shaft on the Cub, or off the belt pulley drive on a 140.

I have an old set of blades off a C-3 from a Cub Loboy I used to own, and a Woods 59 deck leaning up against the wall in my shed. I'll compare them to see if they rotate the same.

It does not show the common parts already shown. The 140 section only shows what is different: mounting items, mule drive, belt, etc. The deck and blades are the same for the Cub and 140, according to the manual.

thanks for the help I just ordered some from Ebay! I did pull one to compare to what I was buying and it was stamped 91-318 which made it used on the cub mower like you said. I am just used to the woods mower when you have a left hand and a right hand blade depending on it its a cub L59 or a farmall A l59.
thanks for the help I am just going to have to really look at the mower when it is running it must be a right hand discharge. It must be in the belt set up.
thanks again!
I found all 3 blades shipped for $55.00

Don't tell them I said their online presence is a bit lacking.... Some things are just better done over the phone anyway.

Call them, they are my 'closest' dealer and super folks. They were a site sponsor for a time too.
