Didn't follow my own advise

Postby Brent » Fri Jul 12, 2013 9:11 am

I have a 1965 Ford Industrial 2000 that I use to do our dirt road and other things. Got done the last time and parked it in front of our travel trailer. Went to move it because we were going on a trip with the travel trailer in a couple of days. Pushed the starter button and all I got was a click. Battery was fine so I took the starter motor out and checked it out. It was ok. Only other thing I could think of was a bad solenoid but I didn't have time to replace it. After an hour I was able to jack the bucket and Gannon scraper up and chain them up so I could tow it out of the way. Got home from our trip on Tuesday and on Thursday I attacked it again. Took the hood off so I would have a clear shot at the starter solenoid and what did I find but the nut missing for the positive battery cable terminal on the solenoid. One nut later and it started right up. If you notice at the bottom of my page, my quote is "TRY THE EASIEST THING FIRST" I guess I didn't follow my own advise.
Always try the easiest thing first.
