Merlin is FINALLY able to do some regular work! (Pix now!)

Postby Hengy » Fri Jul 19, 2013 9:24 am

I am loving life!

My wife and I are moving into our "forever home" back on the Hengelsberg Homestead. It is kind of surreal in reality because we are moving into the house that was the "Hengelsberg House" for years until my grandmother died about 15 years ago. While the house itself sits on about 0.75 acres, we also have free use of another 0.75 acre lot next to the house which is owned by my uncle. The house itself is built like a brick $h*thouse and there is not a single crack in the plaster anywhere in the place. We are so excited to be back in the world of home ownership, and the fact that we are back on family ground is even better for us...

The great part is that Merlin gets a weekly workout now that we have a fair amount of ground to mow. I am still figuring out the right "pattern" to get the most efficient mowing path around the place. Since there are a fair amount of trees there, there is a fair amount of turning that needs to be done to make it happen, but boy does this tractor know how to mow! I am going to have to "tighten up" the mower a bit over the Winter months, though. (Woods 59) While mowing across the slight slope, the high side tends to tip lower to the ground while the downhill side rides high. I think that some bushings will help to tighten things up a bit and keep the mower a little more even to the ground while I mow. I love mowing the field and Merlin really shines while doing that. Never bogs down at all despite the fact that the grass is really thick field grass... Love this Cub...it just hums along and keeps on going...

It is just a great time for us here on Hengelsberg Hill...

Mike
