Oh, don't worry, Fred! That is something that is on the horizon for sure. With land to play on, once I get the family all settled in, bank on a Hengelsberg Hill CubFest soon!

How is your cub coming??

Hey all...

Here are some pics of the new place on the "home land".

I can see that I have some leaks that I need to address!!

Move in day is next weekend, and we have been spending a TON of time cleaning, painting, refreshing and yard work while the place is empty inside. MUCH nicer than having to work around furniture! Can't wait to be in a place with family history now!

Looks good, Mike! Don't fall off that roof, it's a loooong way down. So where does the new barn go? I see possibilities. :{_}:

I know that, Denny!! I decided to PAY someone to clean out the gutters because I didn't want to climb a ladder to do it myself!! Ahh the perils of living in "hill country" in Western PA.

As to the barn, that is going to be a little way away, but I see it going in the back corner of the field down the road. Our township has become "uppity" now and has major restrictions on the size and placement of outbuildings on land now, so I am sure that will be a fight down the road. Our township (Hampton Township) used to be a really rural community with lots of farms that raised chickens, vegetable gardens, pigs, etc, but has since become the township for the "upwardly mobile"... The restrictions on animals, buildings, etc has really become onerous... But that is a fight for another day!!

Mike:

Yup, looks like a very nice homestead :D I would think you and the family will be happy there. Don't let the yuppies destroy your township. Rural farming areas are very special and not just for the farms but for the people and the friendliness of farming families. Far too little of that these days .. too much city stuff.

When we bought our land it was all RA - Rural Agricultural. Within the Town limits barely but more rural than semi-urban. Still is. But the doorknobs on City Council think that our farm area would be a lot nicer if it was filled with construction yards, warehouses etc. and has rezoned land unilaterally. There is a big fight going on .. but the farm and residential land owners will win. Most of the residential properties are a minimum 3 - 6 acres so definitely a rural atmosphere.

One thing about NB .. we have a law, it is called the Terry Sullivan law which basically states that if people move into a farming are and try to turn it into an urban area - they may not infringe on existing/historical ag operations. A long story, an interesting and painful one for many here - but we do have our protections to farm.

Makes me happy cause well, we have a farm  Even has a name -- 25Acres and when the paki's come home it will be 25Acres Alpacas.

What are the plans for the family farm?

Funny how people move into a rural area and want to make it like where they just left. I remember years ago running a silage truck after dark and a neighbor complained about the noise.... I didn't tell them they could have raised ranches with kids (what does each student cost??) or that corn chopping is ONCE A YEAR.

Awesome spot Hengy! Enjoy it.
