generator mount question
I took a gazillion pics of my cub before I disassembled it.... but evidently, I never got a good clear shot of the generator bracket... can someone tell me if the regulator bracket goes ON top of the genny bracket, or below it? Simple question, but lots of consternation! thanks in advance.
I've never met a tractor I didn't like....but I have found some that were greatly annoying....

Here is a photo if it helps. You can see the bracket in the photo.

Re: generator mount question
Like jailer says... grounds! What I did was make sure at least one end of the gennys frame (bolt hole), the same bracket end, the brackets (where one of the bolts attach) and the flat base where it mounts have bare metal to make a ground. Also the base plate for the VR needs a ground, look for one side that has a little ground strap and ground that one.
It showed up when the guy went to test the generator and couldn't get a ground (won't work without one) because I painted the whole thing. So now I am careful about paint on places that should be grounded. Depending on where it is, I use 'star' washers too.
I think a dab of dieletric grease on those points would also work well to ensure you have a good ground as it should prevent moisture and rust from interfering later on.
On the 12v ones the ground for the headlights is a generator base bolt.
Not the best shot, but another view.

Regulator bracket below, Cut out mounted on top... that would be the big difference and a good rule of thumb..

Re: generator mount question
no sure why the regulator needs ground from bolts as it seems to me it is on rubber isolator bracket between bolt moount and regulator itself?

Re: generator mount question
There will be a ground strap on one end connecting the regulator to the bracket. Without a ground it will not work.advancedoptions wrote:no sure why the regulator needs ground from bolts as it seems to me it is on rubber isolator bracket between bolt moount and regulator itself?
