I guess when you live in the country one should accept the critters that live close by I can tolerate everything but the skunks in the last two weeks I have killed SIX I shoot them with a 12ga.and hit them in the front shoulder with hi-power number fours this takes off the frontal part and the head so far none has sprayed and I have only had the law called once for shooting at five thirty on sunday morning.i have a stump row about a hundred yards from the house down in the woods I assume this is where they are denning.

I usually let all skunks slide by me, they kill out all the Yellow Jackets around here so they're okay with me.

Re: Skunked
if you shoot them in the rump with a 12 guage (#4's are fine) they don't spray. One hit does the job immediately too.

Re: Skunked
Coons and Possums around these parts about a month ago were eating all the cat food up. I thought I was spending a lot on cat food so I put a steel auto feeder out in the middle down the lane and sure enough they were coming and going like it was a diner. The 22 put an end to it all I shot three coons an a possum, and stopped leaving so much feed out. Yesterday I caught the ground hog that had been in my melon patch eating all the leaves off, he got a taste of the 22 also.

Re: Skunked
Never had a problem with stink when shooting them in the back side. If you shoot them in the head, it is a 50% chance of release.
