Massey Harris Pony

I have an opportunity to buy a Massey Harris Pony that has been in a barn for a few years. It looks really good, an older restoration but the owner thinks the motor needs rebuilt. It was his dads who has passed away. He said his dad told him the motor needed the rebuild. Any ideas on Pony values?

Around here, twice the price of a similar condition cub; so a decent running one is $2500 or more.

All of the Pony's I have ever checked out usually went for a lot less than the price asked for most Cubs up here. Kinda backwards. I am not a huge fan of the Massey Harris tractors -- although they are pretty tough. I like some of the older horse drawn equipment - those things have a lot of class. The Pony never thrilled me much. I do have a few chums who have them and they really like em. The Pony is a good strong tractor but just doesn't have the oomph for me in the style department.

Most Pony's here .. older restoration/working clothes usually go for between $1,200.00 and $1,500.00, where as a lot of Cubs have $2,000.00 to $3,500.00 asks. It all depends I guess on location, condition, availability and of course desirability.

Rudi, MH never was large in this area so pricing may be a little higher. I know of only one farmer who had them and he liked them. I have plowed with one built in the mid 50's with a three bottom mounted plow on it and it seemed to be ok. Dad had borrowed it because we were behind on plowing, one tractor must have been down. I only used it for two days but remember it well since I locked the trans in two gears! The neighbor smiled and said it had happened before. WHEW!!! Vern

In my area a Pony runs the smae to a little higher than a cub, people buy them because they are rare in this area and want to show them. If for use, the mounted implements are pretty rare,as well as parts. At least in eastern Mo.

In this area ,---- two things come to mind,---scarce AND pricey if and when found!---not many were ever in this area and now collectors pay a sky high price for them!---I think parts might be a little hard to find too!! ---cute little guys,too! thanks; sonny

I Saw one yesterday at our big vintage day show, which our club runs every year, also saw 2 cubs not very plentiful around here. Pony is a good looking tractor and it's the right colour (RED)

They go for what cubs go for around here.
If you get it I have a left hand plow with a great point on it for it.
