Oil Filter Not Symmetrical?
OK - Silly question (not stupid - just silly)...I noticed the Case oil filter holes that the housing cover bolt goes through are not the same. I imagine it goes into the oil filter housing with the words "Case" right side up, but I'm just making sure. I also noticed TM sells a filter without any lettering on the side. So in that case (no pun intended) does the solid side go at top or the bottom? When I say solid, I mean the openeing without the small lip. The TM picture shows the bolt going through with the "lip" side down. Just checking.

Yes, the smaller diameter hole is on the threaded end of the bolt.

Re: Oil Filter Not Symmetrical?
This Case filter was given to me as a spare from the guy I bought the tractor from. The bolt goes through both ways but when I inspect the smaller end I can see that the bolt was pressed into it at some point and it's expanded! In the trash with it! Good thing I have a new one in the box! I wonder what surprises I'll get next with Ol' Betty!
