Pan Seat Questions

Postby indy61 » Thu Aug 22, 2013 2:50 pm

1- Were all pan seats padded or were they bare metal in the early years?
2- Were there different colors for the covers? Early ones black, later silver?
3- Did they all have a drain hole with brass grommet on the cover or was this an option?

Bare pan seats would have been shipped as the norm from the factory unless ordered with the upholstered seat or the upholstered detachable seat pad.

TC-37A (5-2-49)
351 880 R91 Seat Frame
351 438 R91 Detachable Seat Pad
351 960 R91 Upholstered Seat
351 560 R91 Upholstered Seat Machine (I think this is the one with the drain hole but will have to look it up)

TC-37C Parts Catalog (08-29-52)
351 880 R92Seat Frame

TC-37D Revision 1 (Revised 12-54)
357 581 R91 Attachment Upholstered Seat, Deluxe

Far too many lines for me to copy here .. simply lookem up in the parts catalogs under Chassis.

This is a Instruction leaflet that I got on :eBay: a while ago.

From what I have seen, all Cub pan seats came with a drain hole. Seats without the drain came from another tractor model.

Early Cub seats were black, later were silver.

Jim is correct...

It is kinda plain from the booklet above ... the early seats were black and had a grommet.

It doesn't show it or spell it out in the Parts catalog though..

My Cub came to me with the remnants of an upholstered seat. I removed what was left, wire wheeled the pan, primed it and painted it red. Looks great to me and I'm pretty fussy.

There are tie on pads that are available at different places. As indicated in the pamphlet this was an option.
