Rocky Mountain Cubfest

Postby Bob McCarty » Sun Sep 08, 2013 6:12 pm

Sue and I would like to thank all of those that attended this year. Our biggest ever with 15 here. Thanks to all those who drove long distances to come. Several have headed north to Yellowstone and to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse on their homeward journey. See you at Cubarama or a future Cubfest.

We just got home a little while ago after 13 hours on the road. Two days of driving was well worth the great time we had. Bob and Sue were tremendous hosts. Rosie and I look forward to being there again next year. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as meet several members and their families.

Rosie and I got to pose in front of the view Bob gets to see every day.

Hey Bob and Sue: Thank you, thank you for being such great host of the Rocky Mountain CubFest. What a beautiful setting. Enjoyed it tremendously!
Went on to Yellowstone, Cody, Mount Rushmore, and points in-between. What beautiful country. Just got home all safe and sound.
Hopefully, will get to go back again! Enjoyed the time with everyone.

It appears by the weather that you finally got rain: Hopefully not too much at your place.

Randall, glad you had a safe trip as you toured the countryside. Rosie and I were wondering today how you, Mike and Roy are doing on your various site seeing trips.

It was great meeting you, Melba Jo and Kelly Jo last week. Hope to see you all again at another CubFest.

Well i made it home last night. Has anyone heard from peanut? I don't know how long he was going to stay in Estes Park. I don't know if Roy forgot where Florida is, he is still out there somewhere.

Hey Mike, good to see you at home, know you had a good trip. Roy went to yellowstone, we barely missed him there, then when we were dashing through Cody he was there taking in the history.
Man, have you been keeping up with the flooding in and around Longmont, and Estes Park? Bad stuff!

Hey guys!

First off, a big "Thank you" to Bob and Sue for a wonderful time at the Fest. I had a blast!

As Randall said, I have been to Yellowstone and Cody, then on to Mount Rushmore. Spend the morning here today:

http://www.farmall-land-usa.com/

My buddy Billy Ray suggested I check out Winterset, IA., as I was really close and passing almost by it anyway.
Birthplace of John Wayne
The movie "Bridges over Madison County" was filmed there.
As I understand, the Red Delicious apple was born there.

So, off I go. I ate lunch at the Northside Cafe where Clint Eastwood was known to frequent during the movie filming. As per the waitress, I actually sat on the bar stool that was his favorite, for whatever that is worth.

Then on to Geneseo, Illinois this afternoon. My plans for tomorrow include this show.

http://ae-ta.com/

The show is featuring Farmall this year.

I have tons of pictures from my travels and will share them with you as soon as I get home and have time to process them all.
Here are a few un-edited ones. I have really enjoyed my trip and seen a lot of things for the first time.

Go Roy Go. Some sights to see. And I see you're taking the time to see the all, which is great. We had to rush a bit. Beautiful country. Drive safe.

Home!! Safe and sound. Wonderful trip, terminated by a long drive today. I left Geneseo, Illinois this morning at 5:30. Light rain was falling when I left, but I ran out of it in about 20 minutes. Beautiful day for rest of the trip, until Dothan, Alabama. Heavy rain there for a few miles.

Proud you made it home safe and sound. That had to be close to 4500 mile. Next?

5,040 miles, Randall. I like to do it again when the leaves are turning. :)
