Don't know when IH started using them, but they did use them enough to include them in the TC-37F:

Raymond, I posted that earlier. Let me clarify: No WICO distributor in the parts book. Just IH and Prestolite. There was specific discussion whether this was the WICO magneto or the WICO distributor and the owner said there was no impulse unit, and concluded it was a distributor (battery ignition). WICO made both from what was said earlier.

TC37A, 1949, should be on-point for this tractor. J-4 mag only.
TC 37C 1952 has the J-4 mag and the IH distributor.
The WICO mag shows up in 1970 and the Prestolite in the TC37F 1979. Perhaps IH finally got around to adding at later dates, but I have only seen the WICO mag in the books.

I have only seen them on larger IH tractors and I think they were put on after the fact. Have seen quit a few on green tractors

I am of the opinion that they were only available as replacement parts, added to the parts book for that reason.

Finally got around to trying out the Wico distributor! Cleaned up the points, hooked it up to 6 volts, used a drill to spin it and had a good spark thru the plug wires so will give it a try! Will be bolting motor to the trans tomorrow!!

I am glad to hear that it works, but don't get your hopes up to high. With the coil being old you still may have problems
