Hydraulic Problem - need advice

Postby amecks » Sat Oct 12, 2013 11:28 am

Before I start taking things apart, maybe you can give me some direction. I am losing hydraulic oil at a pretty good rate. It appears to be ending up in the engine oil pan. Do I just need to replace the pump shaft seal?
When I add fluid the hydraulic system works fine....it lasts about a couple hours before it runs too low again.
Thanks. Al.

Early model pumps used an oil seal, and the new seals are thinner and can be seated so they do not ride in the groove made by the seal running on the shaft. Later pumps used an o-ring, and there is no way to position them differently, however I have had good luck using these wheels in a Dremel tool to smooth polish the groove, which helps with the new o-ring sealing and lasting longer.

They are called finishing abrasive buffs, and are available at most places that sell Dremel accessories. They are made for the E-Z lock mandrel, but can be screw mounted on the old style mandrel also.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
