Hyd Pump o-ring

Postby ricky racer » Fri Oct 25, 2013 4:43 pm

Does anyone know the size of the o-ring for the pump shaft for a Cub. It should be a 2- something.

Just a note on the file that Don posted. I learned from Pete Green (via my old buddy Craig) that the round-profile o-ring will function just as well as the square profile rung originally provided. I have installed 3 such rings in the three cubs I have had with hydraulics and have had zero problems. Merlin's is used at least weekly for lawn mowing duty. Cost is FAR less expensive for the round than the square version... dimensions are the same...

Thanks!

The McMaster-Carr number for the round cross-section o-ring is 9452K139. The difference in price is 15 cents for the square, 9 cents for the round.

That is IF you buy it from McMaster. Sorry I didn't look at their website. It was my understanding that the price was "a bit" more than $0.15 for the square o-ring....

I didn't check on the single unit prices. I was just commenting on the relative price difference at M/C. I don't think those sizes are readily available from a local type or big box hardware store in the necessary composition. Maybe a seal/bearing house. In any event, you need to make sure that what you get is compatible with hydraulic fluids whether it's square or round.
