Good Day All,
I posted this on the cadet side, but I was hoping someone here might be able to help. I just picked up my "new to me" QA-42 snow blower for $100.00. It is in excellent shape, but it is missing 1 part, the rod that rotates the shoot. Can someone please post a "clear" photo of one so I can see how it attaches to the shoot, along with its length, & diameter? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Phil

Re: QA-42
Page 12 of Jim T's post has a photo of the chute swivel control - same as on my snow blower.
From your photo, appears the u-joint is still there. You just need to make the handle.

Can someone give me a measurement on the chute rod?
I think it is 3/8" diameter but I need to know the length.
Thanks

the chute rotating rod is 3/8 diameter, it has an overall length of 32 inches and if trying to make one that looks close to stock it runs 30.5 inches and then starts making the bends to the D handle at the operator end.

I've got to ask for you to post pics of the blower mounted and working when the time comes.

Re: QA-42
Received the check for a QA 42 snow blower at late October consignment auction. Complete with manuals. Brought $10-.
I wasn't surprised at the low price. Told a neighbor who scraps metal that if it didn't sell, he could have it for hauling it off.
Other comments on the auction. Lot of farm tractors and machinery did not sell. Most high bids did not come up to half the estimated selling value - guessing the seller's reserve. The small value items went at around fair market value.
Thought. When the high bid is $600- on a tractor valued at around $1500- or $13K on a $35K tractor, something is not right. Tractor values have come down dramatically - and/or folks just don't have the money. Could be a combination of both.
