Sickle Mower Part

Postby AL Farmall Boy » Sun Nov 24, 2013 1:04 pm

I have a drag bar and support for an IH 22 Sickle Mower. I am not sure if it fits the Cub-22 or the standard 22 mower that fits the Super A-140. I looked up the part numbers on the Case/IH site and they are clearly 2 different parts, but the differences I'm not sure what they are.

The flat for the big setscrews is in the wrong place for a Super A.

Hi,
It looks like the round rod is on upside down when the piece would be in the square hole on a Cub. Don't know if it matters much. You would have to heat the loop, and open it a little to turn it the other way in the hole, then close it again. Also the piece with the hole for the rod is not as long as the ones I've seen. Not sure, maybe it's for a LoBoy mower. Maybe the guys with LoBoys know. Here's pictures of mine. Have a good Thanksgiving guys. :)

I'm not sure about the length of that flat bar. I actually have a few of these and they all look the same. I was walking around this evening and noticed a few of them lying around in addition to the one I just picked up yesterday. They all seemed to have the same length peice of flat bar, or at least I don't recall seeing one that was longer like yours.

that is for a loboy, you can see the arm is shorter where the rod hooks on to it than a regular cub

Thanks Tim! Although I have 2 offset Lo-Boys, i wouldn't mind finding a 3rd just to put a sickle mower on. Seems like it would come in handy. The others I have need to stay as they are since one is a Trencher Cub and the other has a Fast Hitch with a rear Woods mower. They don't seem to be many in my area, but Maybe I'll run across a good deal on one soon.

The L-22 mower works just fine on a Fast Hitch equipped Lo-Boy.

As long as the depth lever is almost all the way up, which may not be a problem depending. You will find having the round rod (drag bar) upside down makes assembly more of a challenge as you will have to hook it into the hinge before coupling bar is fully mounted. It is hard to explain, but you will know when you put it together in the wrong order. The drag bar would have to go below ground level to get it started if the hinge/coupling bar is already mounted to the tractor. --Lee

yeah, I'm aware it would work but why not have 2 tractors....one for fast hitch duties, and one for strictly sickle mower duties! :big laugh:

You said you wanted a third tractor. I was just trying to save you some money and space. Are you sure you're not related to Barnyard :?:
