In January of 1977 the Ohio River froze solid from the Ohio shore to the Kentucky shore at Cincinnati. People spent the entire day walking across it. The Coast Guard estimated the ice to be 8-12 inches thick. The average temperature that month was about 12 degrees. The coldest day was 25 degrees below zero and that was actual temperature. The wind chill was 50 below. Rosanne and I had just gotten married the month before and we moved into a mobile home in mid January. a few days later the furnace quit and everything froze up. Fortunately we still had the lease on my apartment two more weeks. We slept on cots at the apartment for over a week with little other furniture until we could replace the toilet and some broken lines in the mobile home.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Art, I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation. Here in western central Va. (Shenandoah Valley ) we hit the donut hole (0) at 5:15 am this morning. Our high today is projected to be 15 , the wind did lay overnight, both the wood stove and furnace are cranking heavy this morning.
