Went to drain my 54 cub during the cold snap as reminded here...Wow ..was this a B***ch to get out..had to heat it almost to red hot to get this out!!.
cannot believe I let this plug get this bad..My bad.....

Slush would not harm the engine. But the loss of more heat at the same temperature from that mixture could freeze it solid. And while a breeze does not lower the freezing point, it does contribute to faster heat loss, man or machine. The purpose of the cooling fan, right? Both ice and liquid can co-exist at the freezing point. The subject of Latent Heat Of Fusion Of Water might be interesting reading.
I recall one thrifty fellow who decided to fill his drained cooling system with water in freezing weather and immediately drive the car believing that the engine heat would prevent freezing. He was partially correct. The radiator froze before the water started circulating and then the engine boiled. Not good at all. And draining the radiator required waiting for a thaw. No heated garages in that area at that time.
I am told that slush in ballasted tires can damage the tube if driven while the slush exists. If not driven, no damage.

I'm not convinced that slush in a tire will damage it. But ballast that is frozen solid will destroy a tire almost immediately if you move it.

Thanks for the info.....ordered 3 of them a couple years ago from TM...the 54 was the last one in line to be replaced ..
It was fun getting it out in a half panic..:censored:
