Re: 750 JD compact tractor
Ouch! I have been watching a green 750 on Craigslist. Has a spun bearing. I think I now will pass as the entire crank is probably trashed (along with the oil pump)

Well, at least you know that you located the problem! It would be a good idea to take a look at a rod bearing, or two. I hope you don't have further damage.

Re: 750 JD compact tractor
Color me almost happy. Went to the JD dealer today and all the parts were available. The pump was "only" $171 and change. If I remember right, on the mytractor forum, someone there said they were about $250 on ebay. In all total for pump, gaskets, seal and shipping it shouldn't be much over $250.
Also while I was out I went to Mills Fleet Farm to look for oil. To my surprise they had 5-40 diesel, (on sale too) which should be better then the 10-30 I was using.

Re: 750 JD compact tractor
good to see everything is turning out positive. it is unfortunate that the oil pump cracked but know you know to run the 5-40 oil. I depend on my 2305 to get the big jobs done around my property and would be lost with out it.

Re: 750 JD compact tractor
Well I finally got up enough ambition (after the cold weather and not feeling good) to go and put the oil pump in and reassemble the tractor. Everything went good and it's up and running again with oil pressure. I did have more good news while assembling. The new oil pump is no longer aluminum, it looks to be cast iron.(or maybe cast steel) It should hold up a lot better now, especially with the 5-40 oil.
