Lost And Found Picture

Postby ricky racer » Mon Feb 17, 2014 7:09 pm

I remember well bringing home my '53 Cub. I had found it at a garage sale. It was my first Cub purchase. The tractor was a little rough but the motor was free and it came with some implements. I winched it up on my trailer and drug it home and pushed it into the barn where it sat for a couple of years. I thought I had taken a picture or two but over the years couldn't remember if I ever did and could find any. I didn't start taking pictures during the restoration until well into the restoration process and when I couldn't find any "before" pictures I was disappointed.

Fast forward to yesterday when my wife was looking through a mountain of pictures of my daughter as she is planning for Ashlynn's graduation party later this spring. I just happen to mention that if she ran across any Cub pictures to let me know. Well, about an hour later she said "is this your Cub?" Sure enough, finally I had a picture of my Cub before I ever touched it.

The picture below is as it sat on the trailer when I got it home.

The main reason I purchased the Cub was to have a tractor to plow snow with so when I rebuilt it I went through every bit of it to makes sure that I wouldn't have issues that need attention later on. I wanted a tractor to use, not work on. A lot of hours and sweat later I've got just what I wanted.

You must have put it together backwards since it is now facing the opposite direction.

Great job on the restoration! A lot of time and effort can be seen in the terrific outcome. It just goes to show that any ugly duckling can become a swan.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Outstanding job Ricky!

Everything is first rate and you have put your "snow pushing tractor" to the test this year for sure!

Why is this so funny to me...? I'm laughing so hard. Did one of you drug me??

Also, what a transformation!

Top notch work Ricky!!
I love to see before and afters as it gives encouragement to finish the last few small details on mine.
those before pictures are also fun to watch the progress and can be valuable to reassemble things exactly as they were.
Nice work

He turned it around so we can't blowup the picture and compare serial numbers :D . That can't be the same tractor

I always thought your tractor looked sharp. Seeing the before leaves me in awe.

Ricky, Sweet!! Really great looking tractor! What's hanging off of the cultivator frame in the first pic?

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. I sure was excited to find the before picture. :{_}:

Smokeycub, I think what you are seeing is parts of a sickle bar mower that came with the tractor.
