No, there were no other tillers made for a Cub. You will also need a speed reducer no matter what you try to add. You will have about $700.00 to $1,000.00 invested once you're done.

Just my two cents, but I would pass on the idea of a cub mounted tiller. Unless you have a massive garden a walk behind troy tiller works just fine. If you have good soil they are easy to run, if you have lots of biggish rocks they can be a bit of a bear. If you have a big garden with room to turn I liked how well the cub tandem disc works. Used ours on a sweet corn patch and it did a beautiful job. We have a fast hitch two gang disc, and quite frankly I hate the thing, if you go back and forth enough you can make a nice ditch, my dad never liked the two gangers ether.
Now a tiller would be awesome on a cub if they hade made one with a T.A. now that would be fandancy.

There are of course tow-behind tillers with their own engines, that attach via ordinary drawbar. What's wrong with those?

Plow, disc then drag. And cultivate when plants are up.That is all you need to do in a garden. You can get the soil too loose.

There's nothing wrong with the tiller, the problem is the Cub, even in 1st gear idling is to fast for a tiller

Cub is too fast for MOST jobs!---THAT is why I am working on hydro- drive conversion for one of my 48's! thanks; sonny

I have a powered tiller that I reconfigured the three point hitch to fit my cadet 1650. It works great because of the hydrostatic speed control. Not sure how well it would work on a cub though. I would post a picture, but cant do it on this phone.

Notice the counter rotation of the tines, a lott of tractors that had a fast ground speed used a counter rotation tiller. I they don't till in thick cover crops well but do make a nice seed bed. A friend has a Howard motivator on an 8n and it counter rotates.

Sounds like it is time to buy a numbered loboy and an IH15 tiller.
Works GREAT on a 184 with the 3-point hitch and creeper!
Low range 1st gear, Engage PTO, Throttle up to wide open, lower 3-point hitch. Listen to the governor opening the throttle as engine labors.

Just finished tilling my garden and am anxious to put seeds in the ground.

rjfcsa, the fast hitch disk does nice work, you just have to "double cut". Work in straight lines and keep the front wheel in the "ditch" created by the disk.

I will be pulling a '48 cub with a howard along with the howard tiller out of a barn this week and selling for a friend if someone has an interest. He also has about a half dozen more cubs and other tractors he wants me to sell because of his health.

I went to a auction years ago. There was a old falling down shed with junk in it. I bought it for 5 bucks. Rooted around to find a brand new 38" John deere tiller. Took it home. its been working on the back of my cub ever since but it is like Barnyard said you need a speed reducer. I bought a whole cub just the get the speed reducer.

BTW, if you think a fast hitch disk is a pain try using a horse drawn disk behind a cub.
