Proper Drawbar Pins - Circa 1940's

So for most - well all of my life until just recently we place whatever old bolt was laying around into the drawbar. Now on the bigger tractors we use regular hitch pins.

Now for the question - what did factor made hitch pins look for the Cub look like in the 1940's? Where they different than the ones today that have the pull handles on top?

Valves from old motors. Dad was a tractor mechanic and probably had access to many worn out, used, valves.

We were poor, dirt poor, guessing the family couldn't afford bolts for draw bar pins.

I don't recall anything other than a bolt with flat washers or used valves.

Sorry no pictures. Similar with a pull ring on top with either a hairpin on the bottom or a shouldered spring which took a bit of a tug to pull out. Another style I remember but I don't believe was popular looked like a D with a release that allowed the handle to be swung out to allow the pin to pull. One homemade one out of a rod with a flat washer then 2-1/2 feet of rod with a T handle that was nice for switching silage wagons since a wagon could be dropped without getting off. I probably pulled more with an old bolt than anything else. The engine valves I can remember using were not yet stamped. I'm actually speaking of the early 50's. I wasn't old enough to drive a tractor in the 40's. Vern

I don't know if they supplied a pin for the implement connection side, but I think most of the old pins looked like these. Pics courtesy of TM Tractor. The head of the fast hitch pin looks more rounded that the swinging drawbar pin, but I can't tell for sure.
