Guys:
I am looking at a hand held Stewart Warner Model 757-W RPM Guage.
It looks fine and works well, but there is a problem....
.
Are these tips replaceable, or should I be looking at bidding on another example..
I gotta know shortly... bidding ends tonight..

Rudi, I'm positive that the tip is replaceable.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Go to http://www.mcmaster.com/ and type in RPM in the search field. When that returns, click on "RPM Dial Tachometer" I don't know whether the replacement tips, item 1416T3 will fit your tach or not. But for $4.69, it is almost cheaper to order them and toss out if they don't fit than to try to find out otherwise.
Unfortunately, they don't identify the supplier of their tach.
Or, you can look here for the S-W part number. http://www.stewartwarner.com/Catalog/tachhand.html and here for a distributor.

Rudi, those origianlly came with 3 interchangeable tips. one ended in a pointed > ao you could put the point in the recess of the end of a shaft such as the cub pto. Second tip was inverted < so it could be used on a pointed shat. 3rd one was just a rubber sleeve that allowed the used of a small inlcuded extension. Doubth that they are still available, but would think that with a little searching through hardware stores and a little cerativity, something could be made to work.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Rudi I think I would pass on that auction. Have you seen this one from Canada??, I think it would be a better deal so far. http://www.skweezer.net/s.aspx/2/cgi.eb ... dZViewItem
BE PATIENT!! Wait for the better deal. I searched for 3-months before I latched on to My GOOD deal. Also SW still makes the same tach so parts must be available.

JB:
I have that one on watch, but I have been trying to buy one for quite a while. Whenever I remember to search for it. Over the last year I guess I have missed a bunch... most have gone for $50.00 to $75.00US.. was just reminded of one today.. $75.00 it went for..
I don't mind having to get the tips... at least it appears to be a pretty good one.
