Orginal Lights recreated

Recently I met with a friend of mine and their company recreated the original teardrop headlights on a Farmall H, M, MTA etc...So for all of you who want to restore these tractors you can buy them brand new with 6 or 12 volt bulbs just like the orginal without the hassels of trying to save the old headlights.

The price if I remember correctly and im just going off the top of my head was about 15.00 with 12 volt bulbs.

And how does one get in touch with the purveyor of these lights? I presume this is the bulb and reflector, and not the can?

OEM Parts has made these lights for years now. They even have the GUIDE word on the lens. Why recreate something that has already been made??? The $15 price sounds like something made in CHINA.

Competition is always good for the consumer... OEM does have fairly high prices for the quality of part that they offer. I agree that the $15 price sounds like a chinese made item, but all the aftermarket suppliers sell items that are made overseas, so what's new... There was an aftermarket supplier a few years ago that offered reproduction teardrop headlights to dealers for $25/ea, but has since raised their price to be inline with all the other aftermarket suppliers.. I wonder where their source is... In my opinion reproduction parts are will fit parts, and are not even close to the quality of the original MFG part. I know that the few repro parts I have purchased have needed quite a bit of fitting for them to come close to fitting.. Also, some items that the reproduction suppliers offer can easily be found at a hardware store. One example of this is the rear light swithc that is being sold. It will not fit the original light without modification (drilling the hole larger), and it is just a fan control switch that can be bought at your local hardware store for less than 1/4 of the price it is sold...

Wow that is heavy for not seeing them. On the other hand I was visiting Tom at TM one time and he showed me Repo samples of stuff he wanted to check out before offering for sale. Some of them were suitable as boat anchors. others were quite good.

3 or 4 yrs ago I bought a set of tear drop lights that cost over $100.00 for the pair. The quality is quite good as it should be for the price.

Just a thought about these already controversial lights. If they are going on a working tractor, who cares if they are made in China? Would you rather break a 15$ light or a 50$ one? If it's a show tractor then simply put a set of originals on.
