Can someone point me towards a wiring diagram for a 75-79 IH Cub with an alternator? Thanks.

See if this site helps if not, let me know. I have a diagram that may help. More info will be needed: 6 or 12 volts, generator or alternator, positive or negative ground.

Joey, do you have an 'operators manual'? The best wiring diagram is in there. I have been trying to find a scanner so I can at least get Rudi/Allen a newer version than the 1950 manual.
It is also in the IH service manual, but the one in the operators manual is more useful.
Send me a PM and I may be ablel to help you out.

I'm almost afraid to say what needs to be said due to the recent posts about the "neighbor's requests"! This request is actually for a friend of mine who is computer illiterate. He has about 20 tractors in his yard (only about 3 of them runs) and two cows that he milks by hand. He scours the local scrap yard and picks up all kinds of pieces of tractors and implements. He picked up a burned 79 IH Cub and is determined to get it running. He has no manuals and wants a wiring diagram, so he came to me. He provided me with the following info: 1979 IH Cub (factory electrical system), 12 volt, 3 wire alternator, battery ignition, 3 position key switch, 3 position light switch, and solenoid (safety) switch. I hope this is enough for you, Russ. Really appreciate the help.
For my information, how bad off would a burned up Cub be? Johnnie said it burned in a barn fire. Would the engine still be good? Can it be rebuilt?

To answer your question "Is the engine still good after the tractor being in a barn fire?" Probably not and maybe. The answer depends on how long the tractor was in the fire and how hot the fire.
You will need to do a total tear down to determine the condition of the individual tractor parts.
The rear main seal holder is aluminum and has a melting point of about 940 degrees F. Individual seals and gaskets burn at a much lower temperature.
My opinion. Your neighbor is wasting his time trying to get the tractor running until he knows the condition of the all of the parts.

Ah! I was obviously not paying attention.
If it is a full size Cub I am sure the diagram is in the Operator Manual (about $27)
Here is a drawing that covers a 12v cub with a generator: http://farmallcub.info/manuals/GSS-1411 ... 009-05.jpg
Best value for him is to part it out on ebay.

Not the easiest to read, but all wires, including the physical location is in the Parts Catalog. You need a very late revision to get the '75 up diagram. This version has the '72-'75 diagram.

If it's a '79, whats the serial? wonder how close it is to last cub? Last cub was XX3685. Some people don't give serial because of free gas cap fraud.I know where XX3611 is. It's located in Brunswick county, NC. Currently out of service, will probably be auctioned off sometime, don't know when.

Sorry this is a late reply, but thanks to everyone who replied and offered wiring diagrams. Printed out every one that was offered and gave it to Johnnie and he said he found the one he needed. I discussed the tractor with him again, and he's adamant about fixing it. Must have been a hot fire because the tires and the steering wheel covering were burned completely off. I think he'll see more when he opens up the engine.
Danovercash: Johnnie's checking on the serial number and I'll post it when he gives it to me.
Again, thanks for the help.
