Finally, I Got it!!
Fellas,
After a few months of having my neighbors farmall m stored at my place, I finally ended up buying the m. my neighbor is currupting me! this is my second tractor, and I feel great! This M is so much higher and powerful than cub. So I have a few questions.... the stickers on the M says its a super m how can you tell if it its one? Also I need the metal band that covers the starter. do you guys buy them or make them on your own?
thanks
John

The real deal
Nice looking Super M. I only have M's and no Super M but from the look and the hitch, I'm 99% sure that's a Super. It also should be on the serial number tag, I believe it's in the prefix like FBK SM XXXXXXXXX someone can probably straighten me on that. As far as the band for the starter, I usually make mine but I recently spotted them in a catalog but that one excapes me too, might be Valu-Bilt.com They say the memory is the second thing to go? Anyway, great addition, I would love to have one.
So many tractors, so little time......

Hey Guys,
thanks, well it turns out its not a super m from the serial tag. made in 1946 starting with fbk. It has been taken well care of and has been redone. it also have a good charging system (12 volt) yeah i agree that the m is on the other end of the farmall spectrum than my cub. well when my neighbor brought it over to bush hog i was impressed with the power it produces. Also the three point hitch and the plows were also a good selling point. As far as i can tell it does have live hydraulics. I have raised the hitch with the clutch pushed in. I am going to have to find more info on the tractor, i am curious about its hydraulic capabilities. I will keep updating when i really start tinkering with my m.

John,
My '51 M has a live hydraulic pump to handle the Saginaw 3 pt hitch, but it isn't original... neither the pump nor the hitch are. Not even the Schwartz wide front axle is original, but they are all good modifications.
Now... if I could arrange to replace the original paint....

John,
I've never used the M for anything but bush hogging. It's a real powerhouse with a fairly slow first gear. It may work well for rototilling. It's worth a shot!

I use my H for rototilling and it works quite well in plowed soil. I have located a set of slow gears that I hope will make it better. The gears are costly but more readily available for the M.
My tiller is 7' and it pulls it nicely.
Early in this post I mentioned the live pump in place of the distributor drive. Maybe you missed it.
