New Prayer list

Postby John(videodoc) » Mon Mar 13, 2006 8:50 pm

My father-in-law, the man who has taught the most about being a man, being a husband, being a father, is going in for complete knee replacment on friday. He is 73, borderline on being too heavy, borderline on his breathing capibility. Whole family is nervous. Kinda of a high risk for a person in his condition. As you go to prayer this friday am please include him and the family in your thoughts. I dont know what the family would be like without him, he has been the one stable thing in my life for the past 15 years. John

He has our prayers and thoughts John. My Mother has had both knees and one hip replaced. She said her biggest mistake was in putting it off too long. Tell him to be sure and do all the therapy and exercise, it definitely makes a diifference in the long term results.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

John:

Our prayers are with you and your family as your father in law goes through this procedure. We hope that all will be well.

there are so many who need to be remembered, I am always afraid of missing them, so I have added this to our daily prayers and I hope that it brings comfort to those who need it.

Lord:

May you Bless each of Your children and grant to each of them, according to Your Plan that which will fill all of their needs. We ask this in the name of Your SON, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who Lives and Reigns with You and the Holy Ghost, One God, now and forever.
(+) Peace

John Beverly and I will pray for him. Bev can do it better in that she had a knee replace 4 or 5 years ago.. Therapy is the thing for success. y Aunt Elanore has both hips and a knee. At 94 she still dances.
I don't know why you are so concerned with some one as young as he is. None of us 1932 babies are old yet.

John,

I don't know if you're aware of the latest research or not, but slightly to moderately overweight people actually have a greater chance for survival and recovery from traumatic surgery than normal or underweight people.

There was a recent excerpt in an AARP magazine from an AMA article on the subject, which I found most fascinating.

Take away the cases of "morbid obesity" -- like me, and what you have is slightly overweight people actually living longer than their beanpole counterparts, because of inherent survivability.

Now, breathing problems and general anesthesia are a combination that sometimes do not mix well. His anesthetist will speak to you before the surgery, and explain exactly what kind of risks are involved for patients with conditions like your father-in-law. Do not be afraid to ask him questions about quantifying the risks in terms of the numbers HE has seen in his practice. If you and your family believe that the risks are too great, then, by all means, do not have the surgery done. There are other options, of course.

Our thoughts and prayers for him.

I just read an article about minimal invasive knee replacement and full knee replacement in a health journal that said that therapy after the surgery (in both cases) was the most important factor.

Prayers from here too. My best friends father had both his knees replaced last summer.(81 years young). He and I hunt together because neither one of us can run the ridges too good but this fall he left me behind most of the time. Walks like a kid and doing great. THERAPY as ordered works wonders. Good luck to him and God Bless.
