I took apart the distributor and clean it real good all the gunk and goo ( old grease).
Now I want to re-assemble and re-grease it
Just how do I do it?
I see the two large grease fill screws in the sides of the body but do I fill with grease or gear oil?
Good question or what?
Thanks Men

My understanding of why zerks weren't installed at the factory, and also probably why they shouldn't be replaced now, is that it would be really easy to overlube the distributor. The chambers should be regreased once a year. If you hit them every time you get the grease gun out for all the other zerk spots, chances are the excess grease could find it's way up to the points.

I ordered a new bushing for my distributer, the long one the he shaft rides in, and noticed it does not have a hole in it. When you grease the distributer, the grease is on the outside of the bushing, away fronm the shaft. Hoew does that do any good?

I believe There talking about the lower brass bushing that is in the lower part of the lower housing of the distributor housing that goes into the motor near the governer it a brass ring when you pull the shaft and look into the hole of the lower unit
Mine looks good so I am not going to bother to replace it\ If I can I will take a picture Tomorrow
