Big Snow Today

Postby Bill V in Md » Sun Feb 16, 2003 9:02 am

Looks like the cub will get a real workout today. I have about 500 feet of driveway that is quite steep. The main task today is make sure I can get back up the hill. Have chains but no weights. This kind of storm only comes along once every 10 years or so in MD, so we'll have to enjoy it while it lasts.

Bill
They are calling for heavy snow here in south central Pa. today, from 1 to 2 ft. with wind, we have had a few inches in previous snows so far but not enough to put it to the test.. I have weights and chains and approx 125 ft. of flat driveway here..

Snowing here too! Ain't it great.
Got weights and chains but only about 20ft of driveway here in No. VA. Fortunately I have plenty of neighbors who will be wanting my services.

Hi Bill, you might enjoy the snow in MD, but in Copake NY it's to the point of [ where do you put it]. We have, are having an old fashion winter. It's -2 here right now and was 12 below last night. to cold to play with the cub. Have a good day. Herman.

If you guys get only a fraction of snow from the rain we have been getting, you are in for a big one. It has rained here in East TN realy hard constantly for about three days. Flood warnings everywhere. If this had been snow, it would be about 4 ft.

Good luck, and be careful on those steep driveways. Remember a cub sliding sideways can flip you off if it hits something or drops a rear wheel in a ditch. Sorry for the large fonts, my eyes are so bad it is hard for me to read the regular ones.

Send pics.

YD - will try to post some pics after the white-out we are having right now. Thanks for the good advice. I decided to bag it after getting about a 1/4 of the way down the driveway. Too slick - wish I had some weights to go with the chains. Will try and finish the job tomorrow. Good to hear from you guys in TN - that was my home too for the first 30 years. Knoxville is still my favorite town. Try and stay dry.

Just got home from Shepardstown, WV about 1PM. Well over 1 ft on the ground and it's still coming down. Should have stopped and seen Calvin, snatched up his Cub before Bigdog sniffed it out and plowed my way back.

Snow, and more snow

Postby ljw » Sun Feb 16, 2003 4:46 pm

In my neighborhood, we received 6-8 inches yesterday, and calling for 6-8 inches more for tonight. The media is trying to compare it to the blizzard of '78, but finally concede that there's no comparision.
