I got the tractor running good today and the new front tires on it - brandy new tubes and tires from Tucker Tire on eBay - 15" for the Super A - $90 for tubes/tires for both sides. Ribbed for your farming pleasure.
I got up on the road for the first time with it and figured I'd drive to the next house and back to listen to the tranny because I haven't had much chance to operate it in 3rd or 4th.
I put it into 3rd on the way down the road, and everything was fine, it was like most tractors with ag tires and a loader on it going down the pavement in 3rd gear.
Then... I dropped it into 4th. HOLY CROW the thing lit out like a scalded ape! I mean it left scorch marks on the phone poles! Who's bright idea was it to put an overdrive into a farm tractor My hat just about blew off and I found out I've got more play in the steering than I thought I did. I downshifted right quick and made a mental note that I really don't need any more than 3 forward speeds on this tractor

I remember when I bought my Super M last year, I had the carb and govenor rebuilt, and I took it for a run on the blacktop, was in forth and thought well i'll try the road gear. Well it gave a real throaty snort and went from about 6 mph to 20 mph in about 4 second's . Well that's as close as i'll come to the star trek voyager . I think i'll stick to forth gear.
