Any Central Ky members?

Postby papscub » Wed May 16, 2018 10:38 am

Thanks for accepting me to the forum. I've be a Cub Cadet addict for a long time and just received my grandfathers 1948 Cub. It had cultivators on it when i got it and a pick up truck bed full of parts. My uncle has had it the past 20 years and didn't use it and doesn't know what all the parts go to. There is a left hand and right hand plow, sickle bar (not sure if its all there) corn planter, fertilizer and many cultivator points. At any rate i'm curious if there are any members near Elizabethtown Ky that would be willing to come look at all this and help me piece it all together? I plan on cleaning it up and using it for the small garden and sickle bar to mow the fields.

Welcome to the forum. The guys here are waiting to help with any questions you have. It looks like yo got a lot of good stuff to go with your Cub.

You are about 2 1/2 hours from Cincinnati. You should really consider coming to the Barnyard Bash CubFest in two weeks. It would be a great place to learn more about your Cub as well as meet many of the members of this forum. Many of the guys and their wives get a motel room or bring a camper and spend both days. http://www.barnyardbash.com
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

Welcome! I've stayed in Elizabethtown, KY before; nice town.

Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum (it will tell you how to post pictures):

After your 2nd post on the Forum, you'll have access to the all the free PDF Manuals. They are located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". Through that link, you'll be able to download an Owner's Manual (very strongly recommended) and any service manuals that interest you. You'll be able to familiarize yourself with your new-to-you Cub more quickly. Implement Manuals are also available.

Might also enjoy reading through this thread: What to do with a Cub you just brought home

I'd definitely take Mike up on his offer; he'll give you good advice. Would also encourage you to attend the Bash. There's a couple articles in the Announcement section on what a CubFest is all about. Link here:

Oh man have i found a home! Great response from what sounds like a great group of Cub owners. i checked out the Bash and it sure looks like fun. Can't make it this year but will be ready to go next year. I'm retired and a bit of a fishing addict and have been at the lake. I'll be looking for a shop manual or parts list to see if i can put this pile of parts into some sort resemblance of what they should be. I will be in touch with all that posted numbers to call also. i hate for this stuff to go to waste. I'll never use a lot of it and hope to get it in the hands of a serious collector and not someone looking to turn a buck.
