2018 deer season
Hauled the 4630 with the cut away I redid the top on over to the farm yesterday and cut some land for a food plot I plowed around Christmas. It hasn’t been plowed in 20 years I’d say. The grass is still growing but it cut good. Went over it twice and gonna plant round up ready soybeans on it in a couple weeks. Have a friend who hasn’t sold his beans he combined last year yet and getting some from him. Hopefully we can hold the deer around this year. My wife is already excited about opening day of bow season.

Re: 2018 deer season
Was at the butcher shop couple months ago purchasing 1/2 a beef. Several signs inside the sales area stated that this butcher shop would no longer take deer to butcher.
Missouri deer season this year runs from 28 Sept to 1 Jan 2019.
My son is the registered owner of the acreage, he gets free land owner tags, one deer tag for each of the scheduled types of permitted hunts in the 2018 - 2019 season.
Son also gets 2 or 3 free turkey tags. My experience with wild turkey, tough, not worth the bother. Lots of turkey on the acreage, roosting area on the east side above the cliff. Turkeys fly in to roost just before sunset and leave shortly after dawn.

Re: 2018 deer season
Looking good, Shane. Those type of fields surrounded by trees are my favorite to hunt (turkey).
Good job! Let us know how you fare.

Re: 2018 deer season
Wild turkey is not all dark meat. Not as white as a domestic turkey bred for the purpose, but not dark.
It's funny that Shane is trying to attract deer and I'm trying to get rid of them. We are overrun with deer here in Mountain Maryland.

I’m trying to attract them to our freezer. We have a lot as well. The county we live you get 2 buck tags and 4 doe tags but you can use the 2 buck tags for does if you want and you can go buy more doe tags.
The processor we use takes deer donations as well to help feed the needy and single moms at his church etc. You can take him a whole deer and he will process it free of charge if its donated. He averages around a thousand deer a year.

I don’t know if your states allow feeding deer or not but we pure out piles of rice brand and the deer love it and we also plant oats

Re: 2018 deer season
Baiting deer in Missouri is illegal. Since I have cattle on the acreage, I put out mineral and salt blocks for the cattle and a deer attractant block next to the salt and mineral blocks..

Re: 2018 deer season
Put cameras up Saturday about 12:45, this coyote wasn’t far behind. Looks rough.
