Have you ever lost something?

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Thu Jun 14, 2018 10:00 pm

How many times have you lost something and later found it, and was amazed that you got it back?

I needed my 5/8 impact socket, and it was missing from the holder. After looking everyplace I could think of I finally gave up and got out my spare. I found the missing one a couple days later and was amazed.

I had installed a front wheel after repair and took the 5/8 off the wrench and put a 3/4 socket on to mount wheel weight, and the tractor had been in and out of the shed and in different parts of the yard several times hauling stuff with the carry all. I would not have believed that socket would have stayed there without rolling off.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I can’t believe it stayed there. Glad you found it.

My dad is looking for some lost tools that my brother and I “misplaced” in the mid to late 80’s when we were young and wanting to be mechanics

It happens daily. Gremlins move stuff on you. You lay it down, they move it, sometimes you find it in a day or two, sometimes a year. Blame it on the Gremlins, cause it was moved from where I laid it. I just never loose things!!

I lose tools all the time while working on stuff just to find them some days/weeks/sometimes months later.

I lost my firewood grabber late last fall after using it to gather and load the long couple of rows of sunflowers I plant out along the highway. I cruised up and down the 3 acre front yard with a 4-wheeler several times to no avail. I tore through my shop and the garage several times over the winter. No dice. The first time I mowed this spring, I spotted it in the tall grass and stopped just short of hitting it with the Woods L306. It must have fallen out of the trailer while I was hauling my last load of sunflower stalks.

In college in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I was walking from the dorms up a steep, snowy hill to the freshman parking lot in the early winter. Halfway there, on a steep hill, I assisted in pushing a car that was having trouble making it up the hill. Somewhere along the line I lost my Swiss Army knife. Making that same walk in April, as the last huge snow piles were melting away, I spotted it in the grass right where I helped push the car. I'm certain it is the same one as the toothpick had a recognizable manufacturing defect.

I usually misplace tools and things. I put them in a spot to where I know where they are, just to forget where that spot was.

I dropped a key in the mud at a gate where we used to hunt at the beginning of one hunting season. I looked and looked and couldn't locate it. Numerous vehicles drove over it that whole hunting season and the beginning of next hunting season guess what, it was laying there like it was fresh dropped.

Losing tools drives me nuts! I've been looking for a couple months, now, for 2 10mm wrench's that weren't in the drawer, where they were supposed to be. I got a replacement for one of them but the world will never be right, until I find the two originals.

After I got married and had been off to school for six months, we came home for a visit. The normal drill was to have a few warm welcoming pleasantries in the house and then immediately head outside to do some project (free labor). This time we headed to the 'shop.' Dad went in and started rummaging around and soon said, "What in the @#$% did you do with the %&**)()%$ hammer?" My response was, "Dad, I haven't been here for over six months and I've told you for years that I wasn't the one misplacing tools. Find your own @!@$^^&*( hammer." It was really quiet for several minutes.

I recently headed out into the field having left the hand crank dangling out of the front of the tractor. When I got back to the building it was gone of course. I searched but failed to find it. How much y'all wanna bet that now that I have a replacement on the way, it'll magically reappear?

The breather cap on my standard Cub fell off while I was mowing a small patch of lawn grass. I searched the area for about 30 minutes and didn't find the cap.

Next mowing of the area, there it was, laying on top of the grass. The cap was intact. I hadn't ran over the cap with a tractor tire or hit the cap with the mower.
I have an excuse. CRS.
