Shifter modification to decrease water in tranny

Postby Bob McCarty » Fri Jul 13, 2018 7:32 pm

At this year's NEO Cubfest, Mike and I went through several modifications to George Willer's idea to keep water from running down the gear shift lever into the transmission. Mike made some new upper spring retainers as OEM's are now priced high (an OEM spring retainer is at the top, with Mike's below it, and both are upside down in the photo  ) . The lower retainer is made to fit over the rim of the cup, and contains an o-ring to keep rain and condensation from entering the tranny. The lower retainer is longer to allow it to rest on the cup and protect the o-ring. This won't help with humidity condensing inside the tranny, but will minimize moisture running down the shaft. I'll have these for sale at the Tug. A set consisting of an upper retainer with pin and lower retainer with o-ring will be $15. Mailing will add on about $3.00. PM me if you'd like a set or have questions.
