Crank Spinner option

Postby Bob McCarty » Fri Jul 13, 2018 7:44 pm

One of the Cubs I bought came with a spinner handle but I never knew what several of the parts were. Again at NEO, JP or someone identified the ends as Swagelok ferrules. I found some on eBay and then got some tubing from McMaster that had to be drilled out to rotate freely on a 5/8" crank. One ferrule is slid onto the shaft and staked in place if needed. The tube is then slid on and the second ferrule is added with the end of the crank handle peened to hold it in place. Harlan and I will add one to his crank at the Tug and I'll have a few extra tubes available.

I sure want to watch the process. May take a crank so we can do another.

I don't think so. I think they just had a groove cut in the handle and the tube was "staked" in several places into the groove to hold the tube in place.

My original cranks have a groove cut in the handle and a groove rolled into the sleeve inline with the groove in the handle. Depth control is a must so the sleeve will still rotate on the handle.
