Welcome Back E.J.

Postby Cub-Bud » Tue Aug 29, 2006 7:00 pm

Well, after several years in hibernation, the 1941 Farmall H from Potosi, Missouri ROARED to life this morning. Dad, Russ, and I got it going about 11:00 A.M. this morning. I made a quick phone call to Potosi so the PO could hear it run. Then, later this afternoon, Mr. Vic Ferguson came by and adjusted the carb and I filled it with coolant/water and hopped on board. I drove E.J. around the yard a few laps then parked him and let him run for a while. The engine runs smooth and the transmission shifts good and makes very little noise. Here are a couple of pics:

Fantastic Bud! I remember the before shots and that's quite an accomplishment! Congratulations on a job well done!

Do you suppose the former owner might want to buy it back???? :) :)

My father was the previous owner, and it is what I learned to drive on. Dad bought it in late 46 or early 47 and farmed withit till his health got too bad to cintinue aobut 20 years ago. sold it to a relative we thougth woudl take good care of it, but did not wokr out. when Bud was looking for an H I mentioned it, and you can now see the results. when he bought it the H had been setting outside with the head off and a rotten palstic tarp over it for several years. There was even an article aobut it in the Red Power Magazine a coupel years ago.

I would like a little more info about that article??? Issue # and Date???

Seems like some family history here. I guess it makes you feel pretty good seeing your Dad's H restored - I know how I would feel to have some of my Dad's stuff... it is a heart warmer I would think.. :D 8) :D

I started restoring a 49 cub (Missy) about 4years ago, but when I started havign health problmes, I had to give up on the project, and when he found aout aobut it Bud picked it up and finished it for me. I really appreciate that, but seeing the job he is doing on Dad's H brigns tears to my eyes. Tears of joy.

Country,

Yes, the loader will eventually go back on the H. The condition of the lift all is unknown at this point, as is the condition of the cylinders. The loader has been cleaned, primed, and painted and is ready for action. 8)
