I'm installing the govenor seal in the crankcase and I am not clear on the instructions. Should the side of the seal with the spring be to the govenor or the distributor?

The spring should be toward the distributor. The open side of the seal faces the governor. The governor has a gasket between it and the block to keep oil from leaking out. The seal keeps oil away from the distributor.

The spring should go toward the governor. Cub-Bub said it both ways.
Jim showed it all.
