Ring Seal on the SA PTO

Postby Dale Finch » Fri Apr 22, 2011 6:05 pm

A quick question: while I was replacing the bearing on the SA PTO (previous post), I decided to replace what appeared to be a ragged ring seal (the middle vertical part):

It seemed to be a leather ring that fit on the outside edge of a steel plate that goes into the Belt Pulley Housing. So I ordered one from the IH dealer, and the new one is a large rubber o-ring, rather than a flat leather ring. Anyone have any experience with this? I actually haven't tried it yet, since I got it today, but thought I would ask before I go to the shop, just in case there were any potential problems or tricks to installing it.

Thanks, Dale F

Just be sure to coat it with oil before you install it.
